New shirt coming soon to tee fury

So I created a design for tee fury a while ago and now it's going up for sale on April 25 (but the date is subject to change). Anyways, this design in particular is a redesign of my "and the bear says" shirt design. It isn't a huge change, but it definitely looks tighter than my first attempt thanks to the help of Jimmy Benedict aka jimiyo. Check out the tee above and make sure you get your 9 bucks ready on the sale day at teefury. I'll keep you guys updated

IT'S ON!! pt. 2

So i created another design for the same shirtfight contest. I like this one alot for one simple reason: ICE CREAM! YAY!

Wizard Kin is coming I promise

So I haven't made an update for wizard kin in over a month now, so I thought I'd give you guys some news to tell you that it will be out in no time. During spring break, I took the time to power animate, hoping to finish a buttload of scenes so I can hurry up and start lip sync and coloring. From my count, I finished almost 2 minutes of animation. So as far as animation goes I'm halfway done. I'm really excited about releasing this. I'm guesstamating that I will finish in mid April, just in time to finish another animation for Pico day (a day celebrated around the themed character Pico and his friends). The animation is pretty gruelling at times, but I notice that the less I talk about it, the less I finish, so I try to bring it up as much as possible around friends and stuff. But I'm working hard to bring it to life and I'm not gonna rest until its on newgrounds in April. Wish me luck folks

Shirt Fight Bitch!!! It's ON!

So I created a design for shirtfight.com, a new up and coming t-shirt competition site. Anyways, the the theme for the challenge was to create a shirt based around a dream or nightmare, and it is a bonus if its food related. So the Snack Attack idea came up due to the fact that I'm always sneaking in the kitchen to steal a snack. Hope you guys enjoy

new shirt submitted to uneetee

Here is a shirt I made for consideration on uneetee. I'll be making more for the site. Hopefully it gets some votes

So today I helped design a myspace page for my friend Andrew Sinclair. I'll slowly be adding more to it when I get more content in order. I just wanted to focus on the background, colors, and some buttons. So if you get the chance, visit the page here: www.myspace.com/approachingnirvana

I made a wallpaper for Childish Gambino

I made a wallpaper for one of the coolest rappers on the underground scene (in my humble opinion)... Childish Gambino. The rapper, if you don't know, is part for the comedy troupe Derrick Comedy. I sent him a email of my design and hopefully he responds saying he likes it. Let me know what you think. Also, check out and download his songs from his blog page here: http://childishgambino.blogspot.com/

Valentine's Day Cards

So I made a few Valentine's Day cards for the sake of making them. Here is one of them above. I didn't spend much time on them hahah

Plans and Goals for 2009

I woke up this morning with a clear vision of what I want and need to do for this year in order to get my freelance career off the ground

1. Website
One of the most important things that I need to do is create a website. Since I'm taking a class for web design, I'll be able to make my own website as a project and launch it sometime in June. I think this would be beneficial in having a place for people to see my artwork, news, and everything in one location. It will also give me a professional look as well. I always wanted to have my own website. I was actually planning on opening a web shop, but decided it would be best to have a portfolio type of website. I figured since I'll be entering alot of design contest of different natures, that I will just make a web page where I link to places were you can buy designs created by me that are winning submissions or something like that

2. Get in Galleries
The next thing I want to do is have my artwork in atleast two galleries. I plan on making some very large and well thought out prints during March, so look out for that.

3. Make a flash game
I plan on making just one flash game this year. The reason why I am only shooting for one is because I am going to be way to busy with designing that I won't have any time asside for it. Hopefully I can finish a game by October

4. Finish Wizard Kin and atleast one other animation
Wizard Kin is gonna take most of my time more than any other project this year. I might have to actually cut corners to get it done in March. After Wizard Kin, that will be it for a while. I'll be mainly focusing on designing t-shirts, prints, shoes, and etc. As much as I love animating, I have to look at what's more important for my portfolio and stuff. I have enough animations to show in my portfolio and I'll have animation projects that I have to do for school that will take up mucho time hahah

5. Make as many designs as I can
During the year I will be breaking my back to make designs for shoes, t-shirts, hoodies, decks, and an array of other things for my portfolio. This is looking to be one of my busiest years yet

6. Purchase a DV camera
Hopefully I can save up enough money to buy a tricked out dv camera to start making short films and shoot some cool photography. I'll need about 6000 for the camera that I am thinking of. I'm hoping to also open myself up to filming concerts on my spare time. Animal Collective is coming to Austin in June so hopefully I can get one by then and get a press pass so I can film and take some photographs

7. Work on my writing
Last year I wrote my first script as practice. I haven't sold it yet and I probably don't plan on selling it, but this year I want to finish my script for a graphic novel I have in mind that will hopefully go into production next year and finish a script called Marinate with Knives that is still sitting quietly on my computer. It's a comedy and it's turning out pretty well. I actually plan on selling that one seeing as I want to write something differently if I ever plan on filming something myself

That's about everything I can think of at the moment, I'll be giving updates and stuff as always. Once I launch my website, this blog page will become obsolete :(. Haha can't wait to see how it will turn out

New Design

New design... will be up on design by humans soon. Also, pvt, yeah I thought the same thing when I was making my first design, but then i say, hey... maybe this will help me atleast get my name out there. Also, the money i could win can help go into making my own online shop and stuff, so its not too bad. I can always come up with like 1000 designs haha

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

This year, along with continuing my career in animation, I am starting to dive into the art of design. Once a week, I am hoping to create a t-shirt design to enter into contest. So far I have only come up with one design, but I feel i can muster up about 30 or so designs by the end of the year. If you can, vote for my t-shirt at www.designbyhumans.com to help me get it into print. I will hopefully be throwing a contest this week and giving away t-shirts depending how things go. Well... peace

Wizard Kin Coming Soon, and Rx what?

So I am diligently working to finish Wizard Kin which will come out to a good 5 minutes. I am working with Lefthandedsock who conceived the story and concept for the cartoon (he also wrote the story). What this will end up being is a pilot that will hopefully be shown to different networks and even online places. If we don't get anyone to bite, than it already has a place right here on newgrounds.

Luis will be doing the backgrounds, so (as you can below), that is why u are only seeing a rough draft of the background. Right now, we are in the process of getting all the line animation done, which should take about 4 more weeks.... I know guys I know hahah. Lefthandedsock, will be working on the lip sync, expressions and color for the animation. I of course am doing all the main animation, and im making it all as smooth as possible

Anyways, the pilot will be here soon and I hope u guys enjoy it when it comes out. You may remember that I have been working on wizard kin ever since i finished Collin and the Wishing Tree. I actually managed to finish 2 minutes of the animation before I went back to the drawing board because those two minutes actually were done on mainly a mouse. It didn't look as natural as it could have, but now that I have a tablet its looking like tv.. or atleast really awesome quality.

So hopefully school work wont hinder my workflow. I know I have like atleast 3 animated projects that i have to do, but i don't plan on releasing those. Those will be just practice animations, like cycles and etc. Nothing special. It'll be in my demo at the end of the year though, so that should be pretty cool... my first demo

So now, if u read this far, you are probably wondering what Rx is about. Well, I started writing a script that will hopefully be turned into a graphic novel. I can't say much about it, but the story is coming out surprisingly well. I'm actually mad that i didn't come up with it earlier. But anyways, I am hoping to make the format something like epileptic... layout wise. Well thats all the news i have thus far.... peace

Interview

So, I scored a sweet interview with 1st Angel, and I had alot of fun with it. I think I have like maybe 3 grammar mistakes on my part, but it's all good. The picture I put up there for the interview makes my nostrils look like massive black holes hahah. Anyways, if you want to read it, here is the link:

Starting a shop

So I am thinking about starting a website store where you will be able to purchase art prints, t-shirts and jackets. The twist here is that you can either buy original prints, graphic novels (wont start this until summer cause I'm trying to form stories at the moment), and clothing, or you can request what you want in a design for a fee (which will only be 5-10 dollars). Then you will be able to buy the t-shirt or print under the limited edition area. So all you have to do is ask for a design you think you will wear, I make it, and you buy it. Simple as that.

The store will sort of be like Kidrobot. Hopefully I can get someone to help me set up a website. I wouldn't mind paying as long as its not to much, but yeah! If it is to much ill just find a way to do it myself.

Once people start purchasing the tees, they can take pictures of themselves and become there own models of the t shirt, or them holding the prints. I think that would be pretty cool

If anyone is interested in helping me make the website, that would be cool. I totally will make as much artwork or whatever you need. I probably wont purchase the website domain until the site is totally done, and that could take a month or 2.

Thanks for reading

Probably gonna sell from home

So because of how high the price on the internet is due to the companies taking so much out of the total price, I have decided to go ahead and print them myself. That way atleast it will cost you guys much less. It will be new for me to manage my own store at home, but I will find a way to get it done. I plan on opening a shop so you guys will be able to place your orders. Since I have to print them myself, They will only come in large size I think. If you want massive or any other size it will cost extra. Im gonna go ahead and list how I'm planning on making this work.

Either I'll have you guys send me your info and stuff so i can mail it to your straight from this website or make a shop.

Then once I think I have enough orders, I'll go and print them out, sign them, and send them to you guys. This will take longer than online, but I think itll be worth it. If you rather just have em sent from online, there will still be that option. However, the people that order straight from me will be way less than online from what I have gathered. You will still have to pay extra for the shipping charge for me to send it however. The post office is right down the street from where I live so I can just mail it to you. If you want overnight, let me know. that will probably cost extra.

So basically I will show you my gallery and you can chose which one you want. Then send over your info, the title of the piece and etc. Then I will try to get it to you

Does this sound like it works? I think the total for a large will come out to about 25 to 28 dollars after you add the fact that I have to print it. It'll come out to you u saving a few bucks no matter what size

I still think Imagekind is great now that I understand how the mark up works. Because it doubles the prize of how much the paper cost in order to give me 50 percent of the profit, it adds way more than it should to the price.

But yeah, they are still available online with more to come, but I'll be printing my own out soon. So I closed the deviant art one because of how ridiculously low I would get paid (A DOLLAR REALLY?) I can't even promote to other sites on deviant so I don't really know why I made that account, perhaps I can sway people to see the other site to save money or just buy it straight from me. Hopefully I clarified some stuff. Piece

I have been creating new prints for people to buy, and so far I have only got one purchase, excluding mine. I can't wait for the prints to come in the mail so I can hang them on the wall. Anyways, if you haven't check them out yet, please visit the website below:
